LOOP
CONFIGURATION - 1015 ft-lbs clean
CHECKLIST
CLEARING TURNS - during last 90 ACC to 200kias
*wings level, report alt, AGSM, and pull 3.5g smooth
*check wings level passing through horizon
*passing vertical, head back to find horizon follow section line
*keep positive g load
*recovering from nose down pull 3.5g to recover at altitude
WING OVER
CONFIGURATION - 1015 clean
CHECKLIST
CLEARING TURNS - pick a 90 deg reference
*wings level report alt, smoothly raise nose
* as exhaust stacks pass horizon start roll toward reference looking for 45 AOB and 45 deg, followed by 90 AOB, 90 deg, and 90 kias (pointed at ref)
*allow nose to fall through horizon, smoothly start rolling pull out
*looking for 135 deg, 45 deg nose down, 45 AOB
*cross check to roll out on alt 180 deg
*REVERSE
BARREL ROLL
CONFIG-1015 clean
CHECKLIST
CLEARING TURNS - pick 90 deg ref
*wings level report alt, smoothly raise nose
*as exhaust pass horizon, roll and pull toward 90 deg ref, passing 45 deg should be 90 AOB and nose high 55-60
*continue roll to wings level inverted, pointed at 90 deg ref. nose above horizon 90-100 kias
*continue with constant roll, anticipate 55-60 nose low as you roll back down to original heading/alt.
should not exceed 2 Gs
AILERON ROLL
CONFIGURATION- 1015 clean
CHECKLIST
CLEARING TURN
*smoothly raise nose, putting exhaust on horizon, relax backstick pressure
*roll briskly in either direction using rudder and stick
SPLIT S
CONFIG- 1015 clean
CHECKLIST
CLEARING TURN
*reduce power to idle, slow to 130 kias
*put exhaust on horizon, relax backstick and roll inverted
*wings level with slight foward stick, apply backstick to pull nose through horizon (follow lineup)
*anticipate 1500 ft decent to recover, check oil press, reset 1015
1/2 CUBAN 8
CONFIG- 1015 clean
CHECKLIST
CLEARING TURN- during last 90 lower nose to 200 kias
*wings level, report alt. start AGSM and pull smoothly to 3.5 Gs
*wings level passing horizon, pull at constant rate
*passing vertical look back find horizon, tracking straight
*let nose fall through horizon, use backstick to maintain pitch rate. approaching 30 nose down relax backstick and aileron roll upright.
*as you pitch toward 45 nose down, commence smooth pull to straight and level 600-700 feet prior to entry alt
IMMELMANN
CONFIG- 1015 clean
CHECKLIST
CLEARING TURN- during last 90 lower nose to 200 kias
*wings level, report alt, start AGSM and pull smoothly to 3.5 Gs
*wings level passing horizon, pull at constant rate
*passing vertical look back find horizon, tracking straight
*as nose approaches 20 above horizon (canopy bow on horizon) neutralize backstick press and roll upright
*plane should end up 100 kias and slight nose high
AOA approach
after touch and go climb out at 90 (FF) or 100 (NF)
- notify other aircraft you are doing AOA in crosswind
- level off @ pattern alt, 100 kias (550, or 650-700)
- approaching upwind numbers, set 300 ft-lbs and slow to 20 AOA, 3/4 wingtip dist, reset power to 500 ft-lbs
- perform landing checks
- transition zone set 300 ft-lbs maintain 20 AOA probably use less AOB for same ground track
- adjust power to maintain decent rate
- on final maintain 20 AOA, transition to normal landing just prior to touch down
