Q

How does surface area affect reaction rate ?

A

Greater surface areas can be achieved by breaking up a solid. This increases the area the particles can cover, increasing the collision rate. Soluble painkillers dissolve faster in this way.

Q

How does temperature affect collisions?

A

Increasing temperature causes particles to move faster and collisions occur more frequently. Particles have more energy for collisions to make the reaction happen.

Q

How do catalysts affect reaction rate?

A

This is a sticky later which allows reactants to stick and bump into each other without changing the catalyst, increasing reaction rate.

Q

How does concentration affect reaction rate?

A

This increases the amounts of reactions in the same volume of a solvent, increasing collision rate.
