6 mark questions for Charlotte ya girl Flashcards
Alex is doing an experiment to find out how the concentration will affect reaction rate. How should he use the equipment and method to prove this?
Alex should compare is results for this acid with the results for other acids. First, he would need to add the calcium carbonate to the hydrochloric acid. For each experiment the mass should be maintained. Other factors which would increase rate need to be controlled: temperature;volume; surface area; any catalysts added. Alex should have each experiment timed while the reaction happens and measure the volume at regular intervals. He should do this until the syringe is filled before drawing a graph to show reaction rate against time for each concentration. The higher concentrations should show a steeper gradient as less time is needed. He should repeat the measurements and find averages for each.
