C13.4 Global Climate Change Flashcards
How are rising sea levels caused by rising levels of greenhouse gases?
Greenhouses gases absorb and re-emit radiation - this caused ice caps to melt
Therefore this can cause flooding of low-lying land and increased coastal erosion
What can changes in temperature cause?
Can lead to changes in distribution of rainfall
Can have impacts on the food-producing capacity of different regions
Regions that are already dry will get more drier and the place will get less suited to growing crops
What is a carbon footprint?
The carbon footprint of a product, service , or event is the total amount of CO2 and other greenhouses gases emitted over its full cycle
What is carbon capture and storage?
Involves using metal pipes to pump CO2 into underground storage areas - which therefore reduce the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere
