Requirement for C-Cat? AC 61-18 page 6 (5) with 5 if you want to teach that
- 25 hour dual instructional training A or B, cannot include aerobatic, spinning, night or multi.
- 200hr TT, 150 PIC
- 15 IT (10IFT) 5 dual and 5 can be done in approved sim
- 1 hr spinning A or B
- 40hr XC 1 300nm, 2 full stops.
- 10 hour night, 5 PIC, to instruct at night, demo competency to FE
- multi 50 total, 25 pic to instruct multi, demo competency to FE.
- spinning, demo competency to FE
- aerobatics, demo competency to FE loop, barrel roll and stall turn.
- XC IFR 50 hour xc pic, certified by a FE.
Currency requirements AC 61-18 page 9
Competency demonstrations conducted by a FE operating under a part 141 org.
C - Cat supervision AC 61-18 page 8 (2 types)
under supervision for first 6 months AND for the first 100hr of instructional flying. Supervising A or B cat must be on the same airfield during this time. (Direct supervision)
Completed direct supervision, still required to be supervised, but doesn’t have to be on the same field but in the same area. CHCH based, be in CHCH area. Cannot be carried out from a remote aerodrome. (Indirect supervision)
C-Cat privileges and limitations (8 1 limitation)
Can’t sign KDR
Can carry out CPL x/c once out of direct supervision
BFR is not needed if instructor rating is current as yearly review of instructing is done
Can conduct type ratings
Can authorise a solo flight except first solo by day or night.
Can conduct PPL x/c comp check once out of direct.
Can conduct ppl xc
Can sign manoeuvres off at front of logbook but must be co-signed by A or B cat
