Business Britain Interview Flashcards
Why do you want to go to Britain?
The main thing for me is the company visits
Especially since London is a big tech hub, and I’m an IS major, so I really want to see how companies are using tech/innovation and how it’s influencing the business world
I know this program also has a focus on Brexit, which I’d love to learn more about especially since that’s going to be very relevant in the future
I think Britain in particular is interesting, because the UK and the US are very connected economically and culturally
I think it would be very useful to see how British companies operate, especially in comparison to the U.S.
This program is so comprehensive - so overall, seems like a great learning experience
Why should we choose you/what can you contribute?
I know that studying abroad will be very group-oriented
I do a lot of group work in my RSOs — I’m part of the exec board for UWiB (Undergrad Women in Business) and in AMA’s (American Marketing Association’s) consulting agency. Both have helped me develop clear communication, problem solving, and decision-making skills with having to plan and execute events.
I know group collaboration will be important since we’ll be spending a lot of time together with company visits and other activities. And there’s so much going on, I don’t expect that everything will go according to plan, and I know that being able to problem solve and communicate effectively will be necessary.
Why Britain (specifically)?
Along with being a center of business, Britain has a very rich cultural history - want to explore that
Useful to learn about a country that has such close ties to the U.S., and
Britain is such a huge player in the world economy — being knowledgeable about U.K. would be very relevant and applicable to any career in business
How does this program fit into your goals (academic/professional)?
In my classes I’ve learned about international business, and I’m interested to see that more in person and see how foreign firms operate
I’m interested in possibly working internationally in the future, and studying abroad would definitely be a useful experience
Also in business in general, it’s important to have a global perspective - could be working with teams internationally or for a business that has customers internationally, and so I think it’s really useful to be able to understand other cultures
What do you plan to do with your free days while you are in Britain? What do you plan to do with your free evenings?
London has some cool architecture, museums
Important to try the food when traveling: try restaurants and cafes
