difference between first,
second and third degree burns?
A
- first - superfical, only epidermis
- second - epidermis & paipillary dermis
- third - often reaches subcutaneous layer

why do some patients not feel pain due to burns?
A
could have 3rd degree burns that cause nerve damage

how do 3rd degree burns heal?
A
- graft
- usually by secondary intention as it has a large defect and covers large area

what is scar tissue made of?
A
primarily composed of collagen, GAGs, blood vessles and fibroblasts

what is a labile tissue type?
A
comprised of cells that are constantly proliferating in order to replace dead or sloughed-off cells
