Q

What do you do if rear trip is activating?
And how do you know you have back tripped?

A

Place BCH to EMERGENCY - deplete BP

Return to RUN and RELEASE

Confirm Trip activation by observing BP and MR pressure recovering

Go and locate, raise, and isolate

Travel at extreme caution to next signal

A

Reactive Track Access

Full Cab Unattended

Turn RED EC Cock

Operate FPV and press CG Bypass and observe BP rising

If it doesn’t you have to go and locate leak

Q

How do you figure out whether BP rupture is in leading or trailing unit?

A

Go to Trailing Centre Motor and ensure Park Brake is locally applied.

Isolate BP IC on Trailing Centre Motor

Enter Leading Centre Motor and ensure Park bake is locally applied

Open BVICS …

… If BP charges the leak is in Trailing Unit

… If BP fails to charge leak is in Leading Unit

Q

What is the procedure to operate the train with ruptured BP in Cars 1,2 or 3?

A

Select a Cab to operate power and brake from

Ensure BVICS closed in all other cabs

Isolate BP on either end of rupture

Release air brake by operating hand release valve on Brake Unit

Trip EP CB on motor you are driving from

CE rides in leading motor communicating instructions to driver

Proceed at no more than 15kmh

CE operates park brake if required

16
Q

What is the procedure to operate the train with ruptured BP in Car 6?

A

Isolate BP IC on rear Car

Release air brake by operating hand release valve on Brake Unit

Driver operates train from Lead Cab

Trip EP CB in Lead Cab??

CE is required in rear to operate park brake if train breaks away

Proceed at no more than 15kmh

17
Q

If there is a ruptured BP in Car 6 can you drive the train?

A

Only with CE

18
Q

If there is a ruptured BP in Car 6 where will the train be driven from?

A

Leading cab

19
Q

If there is a ruptured BP in Car 4 or 5 can you drive the train?

A

Yes.

Only scenario you don’t need a CE for

20
Q

With a ruptured BP in Car 4 or 5 and no CE what do you do to operate the train?

A

Isolate BP on either end of rupture

Release air on defective car using hand release valve on brake unit

Isolate the MR to 7 Step Relay IC on defective car

Open BVICS and BCH to Run and Release on trailing MC - this will allow EP brake to be used except on isolated cars

Return to leading cab and power and brake train from there at max 15kmh

21
Q

What brake will you run on with BP rupture in Car 4 or 5 and no CE?

A

EP Brake

Only scenario not on Air Brake

22
Q

What cars can you have a ruptured BP on and run by yourself?

A

Cars 4 or 5

23
Q

What Brake Unit IC do you turn to run a train with a BP rupture on Car 4 or 5?

A

MR to 7 Step Relay IC

24
Q

When you isolate the Brake Unit what are you effectively doing?

A

Isolating both bogies on that car
