slow growing
extra-axial
usually benign
arise from arachnoid
presentation of pituitary tumours
visual disturbance, compression of optic chiasm
hormone imbalance
symptoms of raised intracranial pressure
headache, nausea, visual disturbance, cognitive impairment, altered consciousness
signs of raised intracranial pressure
papilloedema, 6th nerve palsy, cognitive impairment, altered consciousness, 3rd nerve palsy
how do you manage tumours
steroids
treat epilepsy
antiemetics
counselling
surgery
radiotherapy
reasons not to do a lumbar puncture
meningitis, herniation syndrome, cause air embolism, might make headache worse
