Q

Kinesthetic Reminder

A

Utilizing sensory feedback that continuously or subconsciously reminds the patient that they are injured and not to exceed the bounds of their abilities.

Q

Circumferential Pressure

A

Increase the intercavitary pressure on an extremity or abdomen to reduce ROM, compress soft tissue, or expand the space between joints.
Spinal orthoses with circumferential pressure on abdomen, assist in stabilization of the spine.

Q

3 Point Force System

A

Affect alignment by controlling 2 adjacent skeletal segments.
Corrective force is located on convex side of the curve of the joint addressed.
Increasing the distance of the counteractive forces from the corrective force increases the lever arms and the effectiveness of the orthosis.
