Brachial Plexus Flashcards
What are the supraclavicular branches of the brachial plexus?
Dorsal scapular, long thoracic, suprascapular, and subclavian nerve
What is the innervation of the brachial plexus?
C5-T1
What are the infraclavicular branches of the brachial plexus?
Lateral pectoral, musculocutaneous, median, medial pectoral, medial cutaneous nerve of the arm, median cutaneous nerve of the forearm, ulnar, upper subscapular, lower subscapular, thoracodorsal, axillary, and radial
What are the three trunks of the brachial plexus?
Superior trunk - C5 and C6 roots
Middle trunk - Continuation of C7 root
Inferior trunk - C8 and T1 roots
What are the two divisions of each trunk?
Anterior division - supplies the anterior (flexor) compartments of the upper limb
Posterior division - supplies the posterior (extensor) compartments of the upper limb
What are the three cords of the trunk divisions?
Lateral cord - anterior divisions of the superior and middle trunk
Medial cord - anterior divisions of the inferior trunk
Posterior cord - posterior divisions of the supper, middle, and inferior trunk
What are the preterminal and terminal branches of the brachial plexus?
Musculocutaneous nerve, radial nerve, ulnar nerve, median nerve, and axillary nerve
