There was an 11km wide storm and 1.5 billion litres of rainwater flowed through village
What were 2 human causes of the flood
1) a lack of flood protection and old small drainage systems which were insufficient to cope with the flow
2) trees and vehicles blocked the river channel which led to the river bursting its banks and flooding further

1) the ground was already saturated due to previous two weeks of above average rainfall
2) over a month worth of rainfall fell in two hours

Businesses were lost

84 wrecked cars were recovered from streets and local harbour
What was an environmental impact
Four bridges were washed away, trees were uprooted and carried downstream
