Bones + Last min CCA Stuff (Semester 3) Flashcards
What vertebrae is this and what are the features
- C1 - Atlas
- Has an articular facet for the dens of C2
- Anterior and posterior tubercle
- Superior articular facet articulates with occipital condyle
- Groove for vetebral artery
Typical features of cervical vertebrae
- Vertebral foramen is triangular
- Body is small
- Spinous process is small,Bifida
- There are also transverse foramen which transmits the vertebral arteries and veins (except C7 - only veins)
Typical features of thoracic vertebrae
- Vertebral foramen is small and circular
- Body is heart-shaped
- spinous processes are long, downward point
- There are also costal facets on transverse process + Demi facets
Typical features of Lumbar vertebrae
- Vertebral foramen is triangular
- Body is kidney-bean shaped and large
- Spinous process are Quadrangular and short
What vertebrae is this and name me the features
Axis - C2
- Dens (Odontoid process)
- Superior articular facets
- Bifid spinous process ( spinous process becomes two headed)
What vertebrae is this and what are the features
C7 - Vertebra prominens
- Long, non-bifid spinous process
- Small transverse foramen (transmits only vertebral vein)
From what level is this vertebrae from
Cervical
From what level is this vertebrae from
Thoracic
From what level is this vertebrae from
Lumbar
Common landmarks/features of a vertebrae
- Body and transverse process with pedicle between them
- Transverse process and spinous process with lamina between them
- Vertebral foramen
- Articular processes and facets
Is this right or left femur and why
Right, because the head is supposed to be medial and the patellar surface is anterior
3 or more bony landmarks of the femur
Head
Fovea capitis
Neck
Greater trochanter
Lesser trochanter
Linea aspera
Medial and lateral supracondylar ridges
Lateral and medial epicondyles
Layer and medial condyles
Patellar surface
Intertrochanteric crest (posterior)
Intertrochanteric line (anterior)
Intercondylar fossa
Gluteal tuberosity (near head)
Adductor tubercle (near condyles)
Pectineal line (near lesser trochanter)
Left or right tibia and why?
Left tibia because anteriorly you see the tibial tuberosity (under the knee-ish) and because the medial malleolus has to be medial
Is this right or left fibula
Right fibula because you can see the malleolar fossa meaning you’re looking at it posteriorly and the lateral malleolus has to be lateral so it has to be right
3 or more bony landmarks of tibia
Medial malleolus
Tibial tuberosity (anterior)
Fibular notch (opposite side of medial malleolus)
Medial and lateral condyles
