Bone Markings Check Offs Flashcards
Bicipital groove
Proximal anterior humerous dividing greater and lesser tuberosity, where bicep tendon runs
Sinus tarsi
Between talus and calcaneous on foot (small space)
Mandibular condyle
On skull TMJ, palpate knob on sides of face, next to ears when mouth opens and closes
Medical and lateral condyle of the femur
Distal end of femur
Medial and lateral condyle of tibia
Proximal end of tibia
Fibular head
Knob on proximal fibular
Iliac crest
Pelvis, top of ilium
Tibial crest
Anterior shin (proximal to distal)
Medial and lateral epicondyle of humerus
Distal medial humerous
Medial and lateral epicondyle of femur
Distal lateral femur
Scapular spine
Posterior ridge on scapula
Greater trochanter of femur
Downward and lateral from ASIS to widest parts of hips, rotate leg in and out to feel prominence
Greater tuberosity (tubercle) of humerous
“Two hills and a valley”
Slide off the acromion inferiority and laterally
Lesser tuberosity of (tubercle) of humerous
Rotate arm laterally, small hill
Tibial tuberosity
Seated with flexed knee slide fingers 3-4 inches below patella feel for knob
Calcaneal tuberosity
The rounded region located posterior surface of heel
Ischial tuberosity
Place foot on chair/stool to flex hip, palpate in center of buttock at level of gluteal crease
Acromion process
Follow scapular spine to its superior and laterally
This is top of shoulder
Olecronon process
Large knob on poterior elelbow
Ulnar styloid process
Located posteriorally medially, tooth like projection pointing distally of the head of the ulna
Radial styloid process
Located laterally at distal end of radius
Mastoid process
Bump located behind ear
Coracoid process
Finger like projection on anterior scapula below distal clavicle
Sternal notch
Landmark used to measure cervical flexion and extension using tape method
Medial and lateral malleolus
Large knobs on either side of ankle
