Bloodsupply Flashcards
Which arteries supplys the brain?
vertebral and internal carotid x2
Path of vertebral artery?
ascends through transvers process of C1-C6 and in through foramen magnus
Branch of the vertebral artery?
Posterior inferior cerebellar artery (PICA)
Whas is supplied by the PICA?
inferior surface of cerebellum and part of the medulla obligata
pathway of the basilar artery?
in the basilar sulcus of the pons
Branches of the basillar artery?
Anterior inferior cerebellar arterie (AICA)
Labyrinthine arterie
4 pontine arteries
Posterior cerebral arterie
AICA supplies?
cerebellum
Superior cerebellar arterie supplies?
cerebellum
Posterior cerebral arterie supplies?
occipital lobe
parahippocampal gyrus
Which arterie formes the anastomosis between ICA and Posterior cerebral artery?
posterior communicating arterie (Pcom)
Branches of the ICA?
Middle cerebral arterie (continuatrion of the ICA) Opthalmic arterie Anterior choroidal arterie Inferior hypophysial arterie Superior hypophysial arterie
What is supplied by the Opthalimic artery?
Orbit Lacrimal gland External muscles of the eyeball Eyeball Nasal cavity
What is supplied by the anterior choroidal artery?
the choroidal plexus of the third lateral ventricle
What is supplied by the inferior hypophysial artery?
The neurohyposhysis
What is supplied by the superior hypophysial artery
Adenohypophysis
Anterior hypothalamus
Infundibulum
Branches of the ICA?
Middle cerebral arterie (continuatrion of the ICA) Opthalmic arterie Anterior choroidal arterie Inferior hypophysial arterie Superior hypophysial arterie
What is supplied by the Opthalimic artery?
Orbit Lacrimal gland External muscles of the eyeball Eyeball Nasal cavity
What is supplied by the Anterior cerebral artery?
Inferior surface of the frontal lobe Superior frontal gyrus superior 1/4 of the pre and postcentral gyrus cingulate gyrus precuneus
Pathway of the Anterior cerebral artery?
Runs ventrally following the corpus collosum on external side.
Terminates at the splenium of corpus collosum
What is supplied by the superior hypophysial artery
Adenohypophysis
Anterior hypothalamus
Infundibulum
What is the course of the ICA?
- Cervical part - No branches
- Petrous part - via carotid canal into petrous bone
- Cvernous part - goes into thecaverous sinus
- Cerebral part - gives the Opthalmic artery and at the optic chiasm it biforcates into middle cerebral arterie
Which arterie makes the Circle of Willis?
Anterior Cerebral artery + Anterior communicating artery
Middle cerebral artery
Posterior cerebral artery + posterior communicating artery
What is supplied by the Anterior cerebral artery?
Inferior surface of the frontal lobe
Pathway of the Anterior cerebral artery
Runs ventrally following the corpus collosum on external side.
turminates at the splenium of corpus collosum
