Q

what is…?

Albumin

A

Helps with osmotic pressure - causes fluid to remain in blood vessels as opposed to your tissues

Q

what is…?

Fibrinogen

A

plasma protine that is inactivated - but when activated into fibrin helps blood coagulate/clot

Q

Where are… made? what do they do? decribe them? What are they made of?

Erythrocytes

A
  1. made in red bone marrow
  2. transport blood gasese - O2 and CO2
  3. no nucleus, biconcave disc

15
Q

What is…?

Hemostasis

A

A three step process that allows a clot to form
the three steps are;
1. vascular spasm
2. platelet plug
3. coagulation

16
Q

What happens during … in hemostasis

vascular spasm

A

blood vessels contict - creating a natural turnicate

17
Q

What happens during … in hemostasis

Platelet Plug phase

A

platelets start sticking to the vessel walls to stop blood flow

when throbocytes/platelets are exposed to collagen fibers they start to spike and stick

18
Q

What happens during … in hemostasis

Coagulation

A

fibrinogen activated into fibrin which makes the blood collect and slow - creating a scap

allows time for the endothilium of the vessels to heal
