what are the functions of blood
A
- it protects the body against harmful bacteria
- helps to clot blood in wounds to prevent blood loss
- carries oxygen and glucose to all parts of the body
- removes carbon dioxide and waste from the body

A
red blood cells contain a red pigment called haemoglobin that binds to oxygen

A
red blood cells carry oxygen from the lungs to all the parts of the body

- they destroy bacteria
- they produce antibodies that help trigger a response to remove bacteria or viruses during an infection
- white blood cells can also detect and reject foreign tissues and organs

they stop bleeding at wounds by forming a mesh and clotting blood
