AIE Categories
Tactical and Non-Tactical
Forest Penetrator
Can accommodate 3 individuals. Primarily for land rescue.
Flotation collar bright orange, weighs 6 lbs. Top 6in visible above the water line.
Stokes Litter
Support an occupant in an immobile, face up position.
Weighs approx 56 lbs
Low and Slow
Allows for rapid deployment and recovery of rescue individuals and the patient.
Rescue Hoist
Used when landing is impractical or impossible, rescues involving the hoist are often seen when over water or hazardous terrain.
Tag Line
attached to the stokes litter to help stabilized it when being raised with the hoist. May be attached to other rescue devices. Weighs approx 5 lbs per 100 feet, length 100-250 feet.
Rope Ladder
Normally 25 ft and weigh approx 1 lbs per foot. Can be used simultaneously with hoist operations.
Fast Rope
approx 2in with AC hook up point on one end. Range between 60-120 feet. Typically used for hovers up to 100 feet
Horse Collar/Rescue Strop
Buoyant device made of fiber filling encased in a bright RED or ORANGE waterproof cover. Used by the Navy, Coast Guard and Air Force
Rappel Rope
Allows direct control of descent and precise placement of the team. Reduce amount of exposure, requires specialized equipment. 1/2 inch diameter. 10lbs per 100ft. Rope minimal is 150feet
Rescue Basket
Made of stainless steel or titanium. Best device for recovery of survivors in frigid waters.
AIE Inspection
Inspection on AIE equipment PRIOR to use is essential. Serviceability- breaks, bends, or frays on cables and structures.
