VW inheritance
Autosomal dominant
Usually behaves like platelet disorder / nosebleeds and menorrhagia
Ix results in von willebrands
Prolonged bleeding time
APTT may be prolonged
Factor VIII levels may be moderately reduced
DIC blood picture ?
A typical blood picture includes:
↓ platelets
↓ fibrinogen
↑ PT & APTT
↑ fibrinogen degradation products
schistocytes due to microangiopathic haemolytic anaemia
Haemophillia A
Factor VIII
Haemophillia B
Factor IX (Christmas disease)
Haemophillia blood results?
prolonged APTT
bleeding time, thrombin time, prothrombin time normal
What is the most common inherited thrombophilia?
Factor V Leiden
Activated protein C resistance
G6PD features
neonatal jaundice is often seen
intravascular haemolysis
gallstones are common
splenomegaly may be present
Heinz bodies on blood films. Bite and blister cells may also be seen
Rx of thrombocytosis?
Hydroxycarbamide
Bloods in TLS?
High potassium, High phosphate, low calcium
Clinical tumour lysis syndrome?
Clinical tumor lysis syndrome: laboratory tumour lysis syndrome plus one or more of the following:
increased serum creatinine (1.5 times upper limit of normal)
cardiac arrhythmia or sudden death
seizure
