Q

Meanings of the Parable of The Sower

A

The sower is Jesus, spreading his teachings and the seeds are those who hear them. The seeds on the path is those who don’t understand God’s message. The seeds on the rock are those who take God’s word but don’t commit their life to it. The seeds in the weeds are those whos lives make it difficult for them to follow God’s word. Seeds on good soil are those who succesfully follow God’s word. We must follow Jesus’ teachings exactly to avoid sin.

Q

The prodigal son

A

Felt as though he didn’t get his fair share of property from working on his Father’s farm so he leaves. Ungrateful, offends family. He goes out and wastes all of his money on a reckless, sinful life style and ends up poor. Then he realises his mistake and goes home, where his father welcomes him back and holds a feast but the brother is jealous that he hadn’t been treated the same despite his hard work.

Q

Meanings of the Parable of The Prodigal son

A

We are often like the son or his brother; Sometimes we stray from God’s teachings and sometimes we don’t forgive others. The father is like God; he’ll forgive us if we confess to our wrongdoing and welcome us back to his love. During confession, we’re similar to the son coming home to his father.

Parable of the mustard seed

Q

Meanings of the Parable of the Mustard Seed

A

The kingdom of God is similar to the growth of a tiny seed into a magnificent tree. Jesus likely meant that Christianity allows us to grow as an individual in a spiritual way; beyond what is possible for any other mortal. The birds represent that the kingdom is open to all and may be symbolic of those who struggle to do right but want to try.

Q

The parable of the Sheep and Goats

A

Jesus uses a shepard seperating his livestock as an analogy for God’s judgement.
The sheep are those who do good for their neighbour.
Goats are those who don’t.
Sheep are sent, by God, to heaven to live in eternal bliss.
Goats are sent to hell.
Heaven and hell are there as consequences for our actions.
