What is a sentence?
A sentence is a group of words that expresses a complete thought.
What is a declarative sentence?
A declarative sentence makes a statement.

What is a subject?
The subject tells who or what the sentence is about.

In sentences expressing a command or request, the subject is always you.
What is an exclamatory sentence?
An exclamatory sentence expresses strong feeling.
How do you find the subject in an interrogative sentence?
To find the subject in an interrogative sentence, turn the question into a statement.
Ex. What lesson did you study?
You did study what lesson.
What is a noun?
A noun is a word that names a person, place, thing, or idea.
What is a common noun? Give examples.
A common noun names a non-specific person, place, or thing. It is not capitalised.
Ex. girl, country, building
What is a proper noun? Give examples.
A proper noun names a specific person, place, or thing. It is capitalised.
Ex. Elizabeth, Australia, Sydney Opera House
What is a pronoun?
A pronoun is a word used in place of a noun.
