What are Intel Requirments? (IR)
- An Intelligence Requirement (IR) is a requirement for intelligence to fill a gap in the commander’s knowledge and understanding of the battlespace or enemy forces
- Is a question about the threat or the battlespace.
What are Priority Intelligence Requirements (PIRs) ?
A Priority Intelligence Requirement (PIR) is an intelligence requirement associated with a decision that will critically affect the overall success of the command’s mission.
-There’s an En and a gap in intel exists.
What is Collection?
Collection is the gathering of intelligence data and information to satisfy the identified requirements.
What is Surveillance?
The systematic visual or aural observation of an enemy force or named area of interest or an area and the activities in it to collect intelligence required to confirm or deny adversary courses of action or identify adversary critical vulnerabilities and limitations
What is Reconnaissance?
- Reconnaissance operations can reduce uncertainties about an unfamiliar area and an enemy who is actively trying to conceal information about his/her forces and intentions.
- Reconnaissance attempts to answer the commander’s questions about the enemy and the battlespace in which the MAGTF will operate.
What is Named Area of Interest?
- Is a point or area along a particular avenue of approach through which enemy activity is expected to occur.

What is Intel Op Center (IOC)?
-The intelligence operations center (IOC) at the MEF command element is the principal MAGTF intelligence C2 and operations node that provides the facilities and infrastructure for the centralized direction of the MEF/GCE comprehensive intelligence, counterintelligence (CI), and reconnaissance operations.
What is a Surveillance and Reconnaissance Coordination Center (SARCC)?
-The SARCC is the principal intelligence functional center for the supervision and de-confliction of intelligence and reconnaissance collection operations from within the supported unit.
What is the Intelligence Cycle?
collection, processing exploitation, analysis, dissemination, planning/direction needs/requirements
