Lack of status
An individual may not feel important or in the way and so don’t ask for help when they need it
Social Exclusion
Lack of social interaction due to not being involved socially because of the inability to do so or being ignored.
Attention Seeking
Some individuals may display extreme inappropriate behaviour to gain attention. They make up or exaggerate problems to get extra attention
This may mean carers don’t take their problems seriously.
Hostile Behaviour
Some individuals may feel lack of empowerment and resort to lashing out and verbal abuse
Physical Impairment
Lack of mobility may lead to a lack of control over an individuals care, missing limbs may lead to struggling to get care services that they need.
Concealing Problems
Some individuals may not be telling anyone about their problems. This results in a lack of appropriate care. Often linked to the lack of status or not wanting to be a burden.
Feelings of Frustration and Isolation
Some Individuals do not respond well to treatment due to frustration and isolation.
Communication Barriers
Sensory impairments/ learning disabilities / language barriers can result in an individual unable to express their problems
Poor access to services and resources
