what happens when you get a vaccine
A
they inject dead material of the pathogen, so that your body can create an antibody for it, so if you do get the infection/ virus, you are protected.

why can’t you be vaccinated when you are ill
A
your body’s cells will be too busy trying to fight the actual pathogens to make an antibody for the dead pathogen.
