A tumour cell fused togther with a lympocyte
How are monoclonal antibodies made
- You inject a mouse with a protein, and then get a blood sample
- Fuse together some tumour cells with the mouses lymphcytes - Hybridoma cells
- The hybridoma cells are cloned
- The antibodies are sperated and purified
What are clinical trials
The trials that test potential new drugs on healthy and patient volenteers
What is a placebo
A medicine that does not contain the active drug being tested, used in clinical trials of new medicines
What are preclinical testing
The testing is carried out on a potential new medicine in a laboratory using cells, tissues and live animals
what is a vaccine
A dead or inactive pathogen used in vaccination to develop immunity to a disease in a healthy person
