Produce toxins which can damage/ kill surrounding cells
Salmonella, gonorrhea and crown gall
What are the symptoms of Salmonella and how can it be treated ?
Symptoms: usually develop 8-72 hours after consumption, vomiting, diarrhea and fever
Treatment: vaccinations against salmonella and antibiotics
What are the symptoms of Gonorrhoea and how can it be treated ?
Symptoms: thick yellow/ green discharge from the penis of vagina aswell as pain upon urination
Treatment: antibiotics, prevention as it’s an STD via the barrier method so condom

Symptoms: mass of unspecialised cells often at the join between the root and the shoot
Treatment: genetic modification
How do viruses cause disease? What are three example of Viruses ?
Use a host cell to replicate by inserting its DNA into the host cell
The copies burst out of the cell causing it to die

Treatment/ prevention: condoms and not sharing needles with infected individuals

Symptoms: a distinct ‘mosaic’ pattern as the virus destroys the cells
Treatment: good field hygiene, good pest control to help prevent the spread of TMV
How does Fungi cause disease ? What is an example of a disease cause by it
