What causes disease?
Virus or bacteria etc getting into their body
What are pathogens?
An organism that is infectious and that cause disease, e.g bacteria
How do pathogens spread?
They spread theough the air in water droplets as well as through people touching surfaces
How do we prevent the spread of pathogens?
Through social distancing and cleaning surfaces
How do pathogens cause illness?
They invade cells and reproduce inside them and cause damage to the cell
What is bacteria?
They’re single celled organsims that are much smaller than animal or plant cells, e.g cholera
What is virus?
They invade your cells and multiply, causing damage to them, e.g flu
What is fungi?
Multicellular eukaryotic organisms that are heterotrophs that can cause skin disease
What is protists?
They are eukaryotic. Most have mitochondria, e.g malaria
What are communicable diseases?
Diseases that can spread between organisms
What are toxins?
Harmful chemicals produced by a microorganism
