Care Quality Commission
(CQC)
CQC is responsible for monitoring + inspecting health services and adult social care services in England
It aims to ensure that H+SC services are of a high quality and that they are delivered effectively
Ofsted
they inspect services providing education for children + all ages
- they make a judgement based on overall examination of effectiveness
Ofsted publishes a report that is Graded 1-4
How regulation and inspection are carried out
Inspectors carry out inspections
- care users
- informal
- health care professional
After inspection
- report published
- warnings for improvement
- implement policies + practices
How organisations respond to regulation and inspection
providers may need to:
- write + implement plan to improve
- implement staff training
- improve partnership working
- ensure changes to working practices
Changes in working practices required by regulation and inspection
the regulator can enforce change:
- recommend improvement
- issue a warning notice
- limit range of care
- persue criminal prosecution
