Advocacy

A

If a service user has serious communication problems an advocate may speak on their behalf
- usually volunteers/ family
- they get to know the service user, so they can accurately represent their need, wishes and preferences

Complaints policies

A

all care settings have formal complaints procedures
If a service user complains they have a right to:
- have their complaint dealt with
- have a complaint formally investigated
- be told the outcome of their complaint

anyone is allowed to complain if they feel the standard of care isn’t enough
