B4 Flashcards
What are the folds of the cerebellum called?
Folia
What joins the two cerebellum hemispheres?
vermis
What are the fissures of the cerebellum?
Primary: anterior and posterior lobes
Posterior: posterior and flocculomodular lobes
What are the nuclei of the white matter above the forth ventricle?
Fastigial, globose, emboliform, and dentate
They receive inputs from the spinal cord, and nuclei in the brainstem
They project fibres to reticular and vestibular nuclei, VL of thalamus and midbrain
What are the three functional distinct regions of the cerebellum?
Paleocerebellum: vermis, paravermis// Globose and Emboliform nuclei [muscle tone and pressure]
Archicerebellum: flocconodular lobe // fastigial nucleus [balance]
Neocerebellum: anterior and posterior cerebellum lobes // dentate nucleus [muscle coordination]
What makes up the limbic system?
Limbic lobe, hippocampal formation, amygdala
What is the function of limbic system?
Memory, behaviour, emotion and olfaction
What is the name of the loss of smell?
Anosmia
What makes up the Diencephalon?
Thalamus, hypothalamus, epithalamus and subthalamus
