B16.1 - B16.8 - Adaptions,independence And Competition✔️ Flashcards

1
Q

What is an ecosystem?

Q

Explain what independence is

A

Within a community each species depends on other species for food, shelter, pollination, seed dispersal etc - if one species is removed it can affect the whole community

Q

What is a stable community?

Q

What type of relationship is the predator-prey?

A

Cyclical relationship - when the population of prey increases (there is far more food) which cause an increase in predators - the number of prey decreases and eventually the number of predators decreases as all the prey (food) is gone - this gives the prey the chance to increase in number - cycle repeats

Q

What are adaptions?

A

Organisms have features that enable them to survive in the conditions in which they normally live - these adaptions may be structual , behavioural or functional
