Q

Why and when is it used?

A

Your heart can’t provide enough oxygen to the body during high intensity exercise. So to use extra energy for short periods of time, your body switches to anaerobic which doesn’t require oxygen

Q

What is lactic acid and what does it do?

A

It’s a poisonous acid building up in the muscles after anaerobic respiration. It can cause cramps in the muscles and later on, fatigue.

Q

What is oxygen debt?

A

Exercise has finished, and you continue breathing heavily, and that extra oxygen you intake now reacts with the lactic acid, breaking it down and reducing effects.
