Q

What is the energy produced used for? State 3.

A

1) Synthesise larger molecules into smaller ones to make new cell material
2) Movement, contract muscle cells to make organism move
3) Stay warm and keep the body at a constant temperature

Q

Why does the number of mitochondria very in different parts of the body?

A

It depends on how active the site it. If one place is used more, that place will have more mitochondria. For example, muscles are used frequently for movement so they have a large number of mitochondria. Many chemical reactions occur in the liver, so more mitochondria there too.
