Define Building Water Distribution System
Is an assembly of pipes + fittings etc that moves water from water service pipe –> water supply outlets, fixtures, appliances / devices.
What is Building water supply system?
Define Contaminated Water
Water that contains matter that is capable of affecting health
Contaminants may be organic or inorganic
What is a Corporation Stop?
A valve installed on a municipal water main to permit joining of the water service pipe
Cross Connection, go
Any actual or potential connection bn the waterworks / any source of polltion, contamination that can change the quality of drinking water
What is a Curb Stop?
Is a valve installed on a water service
- Turns potable water system of a building on and off
What does Domestic Purposes mean?
water used for human consumption, food prep or sanitation
Municipal Water Distribution System, means?
The part of the water supply system upstream of the curb stop –> includes water main
- Plumbers not involved in this design
What is Polluted Water?
Water that contain objectionable matter that will not injure the health of anyone that drinks it.
What does Potable Water mean?
Water that is safe for human consumption
Pressure system
Is a water supply design that uses equipment / pumps, pressure tanks / controls
Private Water supply system
Water assembly that supplies water from a private source
Also called rural water supply
What is Raw water?
Is water in it’s natural state (rainwater, groundwater, water from bodies of lakes / rivers)
What is a Riser?
A water pipe that extends through at least one full storey of a building

Used water is?
water that has passed through a service connection / is no longer under the control of the water purveyor
