What is a Shutdown?
A period during which adjustments and maintenance may be carried out on portions of radio navigational aid equipment, which cannot be properly serviced while the facility is in normal operation.
During a shutdown, the facility may either be:
- Shutdown completely, or;
2. Operated intermittently, during which times spurious signals may be emitted.
What is a Scheduled Shutdown?
A PLANNED INTERRUPTION during which maintenance/ adjustments may be carried out on equipment that cannot be properly serviced while the facility is in normal operation. Abbreviation SSD.
What is a Non-Scheduled Shutdown?
AN UNANTICIPATED INTERRUPTION which develops suddenly and results in the equipment being shutdown to prevent damage or to correct faulty operation.
What is a Malfunction?
Equipment is functioning but NOT within normal operating parameters.
What is a Failure?
When equipment has stopped working completely.
