One where the manager tells the staff what decisions have been made

Decision making: management makes all the decisions, no employee input
Employee participation: None, as management makes all the decisions
Advantages of the Autocratic management system (3)
Directions and procedures are clearly defined, little uncertainty
Employees’ roles and expectations are clear, making it easier for management to monitor performance
Control is centralised so time is used efficiently and problems responded to quickly
disadvantages of the Autocratic system
No employee input; less ideas: employees less able to develop; employees don’t feel valued
No responsibility for lower level staff; lower job satisfaction
increased potential for conflict
