What is Auto Fill?
The Auto Fill is the easiest method to fill data automatically in the worksheet cells.
How to apply auto fill?
To apply Auto Fill, start by filling data in one cell and position the pointer at the right lower corner of the cell. Now, the mouse pointer will change to a black “=” cross symbol, which you can drag down to fill data in the other cells.
What is Flash Fill?
Flash Fill is a time-saving feature, which identifies the data fill pattern that you use frequently in a worksheet and then fills the remaining series accordingly.
How to apply Flash Fill?
To apply Flash Fill, fill in the data in one cell and then click on the Fill drop-down arrow in the Editing group on the Home tab and select the Flash Fill option, or use the shortcut key Ctrl+E.
Which type of source cells can Auto Fill work on?
If the source cell contains text, a number, a formula, a day, or a month, the Auto Fill feature copies the data from the source cell to the destination cells.
What to type if using numbers when using the Auto Fill feature?
In case of numbers, type two consecutive numbers to fill the series when using the Auto Fill feature.
