It’s a graph showing hearing threshold as a function of frequency
What symbols are used for Audiograms?
There are standardized symbols plotted on the graph to display test results
What are the numbers for pitch in hertz (Hz) aka frequency on an Audiogram?
125, 250, 500, 1000, 2000, 4000, 8000
For Pitch, where is it located on a graph and what is the lowest frequency and highest frequency?
- At the top
- Lowest = 125
- Highest = 8000
What’s the numbers for loudness in decibels (dB) aka on an Audiogram?
-10, 0, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100, 110, 120
For Loudness, where is it located on a graph and what is the quieter and louder decibel for loudness?
- On the left side
- -10 is quieter
- 120 is louder
For Normal Hearing in a child and an adult what is the range?
Child - up to 20 dB
Adult - up to 25 dB
As you go down the graph, what occurs?
Hearing gets worse
What are the names of the degree of Hearing Loss?
- Normal
- Mild
- Moderate
- Moderately-Severe
- Severe
- Profound
For Normal HL, what is the dB HL Range?
less than or equal to 25
For Mild HL, what is the dB HL Range?
26-40
For Moderate HL, what is the dB HL Range?
41-55
For Moderately-Severe HL, what is the dB HL Range?
56-70
For Severe HL, what is the dB HL Range?
71-90
For Profound HL, what is the dB HL Range?
Anything greater than or equal 91
