A

1) favorable/symbathetic - already informed with favorable iew
a) favorable in theory (agrees but little action taken)
b) favorable in practice (taken action)
2) hostile - informed but negative
3) neutral - no position
uninformed - unfamiliar with topic
undecided - has some info, but not enough to make a decision

Overcoming audience positions

A

1) hostile - overcome polarization effect vis facts, stats, testimony, neutral language, third person, tone of reason, common ground appeal
2) neutral - 0vercome stasis with new evid, complete explanation, inducing of care, use examples and visuals, use of colorful lang, enthusiasm, second person backyard appeal
3) favorable - overcom e no persuasive movement by removing obstacles do more to spreached the word, use lay testimony and narratives, vivid lang, drama, unity themes, bandwagon appeal
