ENGINE COMPANIES department has designated 5 ff companies at the start of each tour
Group 3
5 FF’s–staffing level A
GROUP 4.
ENGINES not part of group 1, 2, 3 start tour with 4 ff
s
group 5
hazmat 1-7 ff’s
marine companies- 2ff’s
Company Commanders shall ensure records maintained for;
- equitable distribution of details to OTHER QUARTERS
- equitable distribution of A/R’S
RSOT:
-schedule establish by DEPT., may schedule during low availability periods
when a unit is in excess of their required staffing level because of RSOT, and a detail is to be provided from that unit, FIREFIGHTER ON RSOT shall be DETAILED., Exceptions when FF with special training is needed to maintain unit (chauffeurs, etc.)
in the event that an OOS ENGINE/LADDER (medicals )has less than 4/5 FF’s respectively for start of next tour, additional FF’s shall remain on duty until relieved by details or members on MSOT/RSOT, so that unit can start tour fully staffed:
A. DOUBLE HOUSE: members going off duty from adjoining unit may be order to remain
Note: if NO MEMBER ARE AVAILABLE TO WAIT, UNITS MAY START TOUR WITH ONE MEMBER LESS THAN MINIMUM STAFFING LEVELS..OFFICER SHALL NOTIFY DISPATCH WHETHER UNIT IS IN OR OOS
To expedite departure of units schedule for training, BATTALION shall , when necessary provide transportation to ensure details arrives by 0915 and 1815 hours.
UNITS SCHEDULE FOR TRAINING MUST LEAVE BY 915/1815
A. any member outside Battalion , ORIGINALLY ASSIGNED A DETAIL to a unit scheduled for training , will be REASSIGNED BY BC
B. units scheduled for training , assigned out of battalion detail, shall ALERT THEIR (not battalion detail is coming from) BATTALION
C. double house: have adjoining unit supply detail (if a or b isn’t possible )..adjoining unit will await detail
Detail for RESCUE/SQUAD..
- rescue/squad surplus
- an experience FF (greater than 5 years) from SOC support ladder with greater than 5 ff’s
- experience ff (greater than 5 years ) from any unit
Members detailed to quarters within ONE MILE or 20 blocks, WALKING is acceptable..
more than one mile, CANNOT WALK…members must use PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION OR THIER OWN VEHICLES
-members displaying badge and carrying geAR, helmet, boots..free PT
WHEN A DETAIL DOES NOT ARRIVE_—–?
–within borough/ 1 hour(or member returns more than hour)
-out of borough / 2 hours (or member returns more than 2 hours)
COMPANY OFFICER NOTIFY NEXT LEVEL OF COMMAND with following info: -name -asSiGned unit -detail from/to -time left/arrived METHOD OF TRAVEL
DETAILS AFTER START OF TOUR:
- upon receiving notification of outgoing detail after start of tour, officer on duty shall order FF to report IMMEDIATELY AND MAKE ENTRY IN COMPANY JOURNAL INDICATING TIME OF NOTIFICATION
- Upon arrival of an incoming detail, officer on duty will make an entry in the company journal indicating the time the detail arrived at that unit
REDUCED STAFF UNIT..
engine cannot be reduced staff
ladder/rescue/squad staffed with 4 FF’S
-COMPANY OFFICER determines which position is staffed ROOF/OV, based on unit’s response area
- transmit to dispatch “WE ARE RESPONDING WITH 4 FF’S “(if having trouble getting through, transmit “urgent”
- upon arrival officer may reassign the position of the OV TO ROOF/ROOF TO OV) and transmit to IC AND OTHER UNITS OPERATING OF THE UNSTAFFED POSITION
an ADDITIONAL LADDER COMPANY (above the fast truck )shall be assigned to a 10-75 when BOTH of the TWO INITIALLY ASSIGNED LADDER COMPANIES REPORT RESPONDING WITH 4 FF’S
UNDERSTAFFED UNIT..
- ANY UNIT WITH LESS THAN 4 FF’S
- “WE ARE RESPONDING UNDERSTAFFED, WE ARE RESPONDING WITH 3 FF’S “
- urgent if required
When notified of unit responding understaffed dispatch will special call unit (engine for engine, ladder for ladder)
-under this policy , firs alarm units should not exceed 4 engine/4 ladder
