• -interior structural firefighting
• structural emergency with toxic substances
• EXTERIOR positions when exposed to smoke/toxins

DURING initial operations, members operating from the exterior , e.g…ROOF FF on roof, ov on fire escape…may not be exposed to smoke or toxic substances, however be aware of changing conditions and be prepared to use SCBA

Members operating in smoke or toxic atmosphere should not remove their SCBA REGULATOR..except:

B. SCBA MALFUNCTION, so as to cut off air supply

leaving the face piece donned and removing only regular will provide some protection to member’s face

member shall NOTIFY OFFICER and IMMEDIATELY LEAVE CONTAMINATED AREA, accompanied by another member using SCBA
(Removal of face piece should be accomplished in uncontaminated atmosphere, whenever possible )
Company Officer’s receiving such notification should inform IC (or next level of command) that a member scba is depleted/malfunction and said member is being accompanied to to safe area by another member…similar notification should be made when CONFIRMATION IS RECEIVED OF MEMBER being removed to area of SAFTEY

such OFFICER (not IC) SHALL ENSURE TEMPORARY SUPERVISION for remaining members under direct supervision...if OFFICER cannot do this, all member's under his direct supervision must withdraw
