Atypical Alternate Evolutionary Theroy Flashcards
Objects treating our survival
Drpark, heights, flying, rats, closed space. Common phobias, we instinctively fear animals most unlike humans, less closely related in terms of genes more likely to attack.
Fear instinctive
Helps us survive, no fear we’d put ourselves in danger more.
We are born with
Biological preparedness to fear certain objects, there still require a negative experience for it to be a phobia. These phobias are hard to get rid of suggesting they are built in not learnt.
Preparedness has
Evolved over thousands of years, ancestors might of been threatened by snakes. Peoples who feared these survived to pass on their genes. Explains why we don’t fear cars, cigarettes or guns- our ancestors didn’t fear them so there’s no time to inherited a preparedness of them.
