What is tailgating?
when you drive too close to the vehicle in front. it is very dangerous and intimidating
What should you do if someone is tailgating you?
Gradually slow down to increase the gap between you and the car in front. This increases the safety margin in case of traffic ahead suddenly slows down or a hazard appears

Look in the mirrors and then slowly drop back until; the safety margin is restored

When there’s danger or you need to let others know that you are there. Don’t sound it through impatience

Dazzle others which is when you shine the light in their eyes so they can’t see. Make sure to dip them when you are following a vehicle or driving past one on the other side of the road

Use your handbrake and not the footbrake because you could dazzle drivers behind you

- Slow down and stop if you see a pedestrian
- Be patient if they cross slowly, don’t encourage them or flash headlights
What is a pelican crossing and what are the rules?
The one with the traffic lights and button for pedestrians. A flashing amber light will appear for drivers when the man is green for pedestrians and drivers must remain stationary. Don’t move until the crossing is clear
What is a puffin crossing and what are the rules?
Same as pelican, only the pelican uses set timings, and the puffin uses sensors
What is a toucan crossing and what are the rules?
This is the same as puffin or pelican only it allows cyclists to cross at the same time as pedestrians so they don’t have to dismount
What should you do if a large vehicle is trying to overtake you but is taking a long time?
Slow down and let them pass

Keep a steady course and allow them to overtake you

When you want to let a driver know you are there. Not for greeting or impatience or priority
Why is diesel dangerous when spilt?
It’s slippery so take care when refuelling in case you contaminate your shoes as they could slip on the gas pedal.
