markedly disturbed and inappropriate social relatedness that begins before 5 years

a repetitive and persistent pattern of behaviour where the rights of others or major rules are violated
what is another name for CD in younger children?
oppositional defiant disorder (ODD)
how is CD diagnosed?
presence of 3+ criteria in the past 12 months, with at least one in the past 6
what are the four criteria for diagnosis of CD?
aggression to people or animals
destruction of property
deceitfulness or theft
serious violation of rules
what are the two types of CD?
mild
severe
what is mild CD?
when behaviour is restricted to the family environment
what are the two types of severe CD?
unsocialised
socialised
what is unsocialised severe CD?
predominantly violent behaviour
more likely to be dealt with by the criminal justice system
what is socialised severe CD?
more covert acts or more able to avoid involvement of criminal justice
