16
Q

What is the CAM?

A

The CAM is the Cambridge NDB and is the hold we have at EGSC

17
Q

What is the purpose of VFR restricted?

A

VFR restricted is put in place when the CAM hold is active. VFR restricted ensures that all VFR departing aircraft will be restricted initially to not above 2000ft, to keep them clear of the traffic holding at the CAM.

18
Q

What call can you expect from the Tower ATSA/ATCO for a departing aircraft when VFR restricted is in place and why?

A

Airborne times will be passed, to allow for the APS ATCO to identify a departing VFR aircraft using the departure time given, within 1NM of the end of the runway.

19
Q

Stansted RADAR calls the APS ATCO looking for a level into the CAM for an inbound aircraft. What ATSA call should this trigger for you to make?

A

This shall trigger an ‘active call’ to the ADI ATSA/ATCO

20
Q

ATOTN RADAR line rings, you answer it, and hear ‘Wattisham RADAR with a controller handover’, what is your response?

A

You should respond with ‘standby for a controller’, tell the APS ATCO who is on the phone, and let them take the call.

21
Q

OXF14 is doing an RNAV approach via BEPOX, to go around for another approach. They have just called ‘OXF 14, passing BEPOX’ What call do you make, and to whom?

A

“OXF 14, passing BEPOX for the RNAV approach, rwy 05, to go around further”, to the ADI ATCO, or the ATSA is they’re busy.

22
Q

GGGEM is doing a RADAR vectored ILS for Rwy 23, to land. He is approximately 15NM away. What call will you shortly be making, and when?

A

You will need to be making the ‘12 mile’ call to the ATCO. “GGGEM, 12 miles, for the ILS, rwy 23 to land”.

23
Q

What information do you require for a diversion?

A

Callsign and/or a/c reg, a/c type, departure aerodrome, original destination, ETA, and a reason for the diversion.

24
Q

What are the APP/APS and director frequencies for EGSC?

A

APP/APS- 120.965

Director- 124.980

25
Q

How can you ensure the NDB is transmitting properly?

A

Select the NDB option on the NDB/ATIS switch and listen to see if it’s transmitting.

26
Q

Who are D & D, and what frequency do they operate on?

A

Distress and Diversion, are a unit that provide essential safety and operational information needed to assist during an emergency. The frequency is 121.5

27
Q

What are the emergency squawks, and what do they entail?

A

7500- Unlawful interference (Hijack)

7600- Radio fail

7700- General Emergency

28
Q

What are the squawks for HLE88, Pipeline/Powerline inspections, and royal helicopter flights?

A

HLE 88- 0020

Pipeline/Powerline Inspections- 0036

Royal Helicopter flights- 0037

29
Q

Upon receiving an estimate from TC for an inbound IFR aircraft, what shall you do with the information?

A

Code callsign the squawk, input the estimate and squawk into the FDMS to update the strip. Replace the original strip with the new strip on the board.
