Atropine action

A

Atropine blocks the parasympathetic nervous system, specifically the vagal effects on the heart. It does not increase contractility but may increase myocardial oxygen demand. Decreases airway secretions

Atropine dose

A

Bradycardia
0.5mg IVP/IO (may repeat as needed every 3-5 min to a max of 3mg)
Pedi: 0.02mg/kg (minimum single dose of 0.1mg) IV/IO
Organophosphate
2-5mg IV/IO/IM (repeat as needed every 10-15min)
Pedi: 0.05mg/kg IV/IO/IM
