ATMOSPHERIC PRESSURE Flashcards

1
Q

What is a col ?and ancicilonic/cyclonic col?

Q

What is Trough and caretteristics of it?

A
• A trough (of low pressure) is
characterized by a system of
isobars which are concave towards
a DEPRESSION
• Troughs are generally marked by

Q

WhaT IS a RIDGE AND IS characteristic?

A
• A ridge (of high pressure), also
termed a 'wedge', is an extension of
an ANTICYCLONE or high-pressure
area
• It is the converse of a TROUGH of
low pressure and is generally
associated with fair, anticyclonic-
type weather
