Asthma Flashcards
in a child aged 5 to 16 who you suspect to have a new diagnosis of asthma what is the first line medical management
Salbutamol
You have been seen Tom’s a 10 year old child to help him manage his asthma unfortunately his salbutamol inhaler isn’t enough what is the next line
Add an inhaled corticosteroids which is beclomethasone
One year later Tom comes back complaining that his current inhalers aren’t really helping what is the next line management after a salbutamol and inhaled corticosteroids combination
Add a leukotriene receptor for medication such as montelukast
Tom says that initially the montelukast you prescribed him was helping but now it’s not really doing anything what can you try instead of a leukotriene receptor for medication
