1)The nurse should teach the client to practice controlling the environment. This includes avoiding asthma triggers, inflammatory factors, irritants, and pollutants.
Steps to use metered dose inhaler NCLEX teaching question:
1.Remove the cap
2.shake the inhaler well before use
3.breath out, away from the inhaler
4.Bring the inhaler to the mouth. Place it in mouth between the teeth and close mouth around it.
5.start to breath in slowly. press the top of the inhaler once and keep breathing in slowly until one has taken a full breath (three to five seconds).
6.) Remove the inhaler from the mouth and hold the breath for 10 seconds and breath out.
“if patients cannot tolerate a bitter taste or experiencing side effects, they may need a spacer. Patients should rinse mouth after each dose to prevent thrush. Client should wait only one minute between each puff.
