Clinical properties:
1) Anorexia is a behavioral issue to therapy must address the behavior.
2) Two factors of treatment - Nutritional rehabilitation & Psychotherapy
3) Clients with anorexia are at risk for refeeding syndrome. This is a clinical complication that can occur due to fluid and electrolyte shifts during nutritional rehabilitation of the malnourished client.
4) Anorexia clients with distorted thoughts about their body image do not respond well to pharmacotherapy. However it responds well to cognitive behavioral therapy.
5) This condition is sometimes confused with bulimia nervosa.
